Big Fish Local at The DeLO, Brooklyn neighborhood, Jacksonville
Building a business demands more than passion. Yes – that’s a great foundation. And if you’re starting something that you hope will last, vision must be equal to passion. The road is long and it won’t be smooth. You will fail; and you will succeed. And most of all, there is space between where the view is unclear whether you’re succeeding or failing. It requires a commitment to stay the course. Simply because there’s a greater love for the process than for any of the failures or successes.
Seeing and exercising the ability to look beyond your initial enthusiasm for an idea or project is ultimately what will glue your passion with stability. This is Big Fish Local; a passion-driven project with vision for causing local businesses to balance, build and blend expertise into collaborative partnership to elevate what matters most – relationship and opportunities.
The mission of Big Fish Local is simple: to bring the excellence of Big Fish Yoga classes to unlikely places and spaces throughout Jacksonville and our Beaches. We exist to develop and expand powerful partnership with local businesses and increase health, collaboration, and fun throughout our city.
Big Fish opened its doors in 2010 to create a culture of leadership and service through yoga and expand excellent yoga education in Northeast Florida. Big Fish Local creates this in bricks and mortar settings outside of our studio walls; and we’re committed to have fun while doing it.
The Local class pass is how you buy ‘classes’ – but at a local’s rate – $100 for ten classes will get you access to any of our Big Fish Local classes, currently at Surfer, the Bar, in Jacksonville Beach, the DeLO in Brooklyn downtown, and Hoptinger’s in Five Points / Riverside. Classes are weekly at the same time, same location and your class pass lasts a full year. We will continue to add locations throughout 2018.
Mary Lyn Jenkins, founder of Big Fish Yoga studios and the awesome Team of Educators at Big Fish, have taught throughout the city since doors opened seven years ago. The idea became clear that the classes should be consistent and with committed partners instead of sprinkled throughout the city as one-time events. This elevates everything – the space, the people, the businesses – and ultimately, creates something that didn’t exist before.
Truth: local business has its challenges. Truth: it’s the heartbeat of every great city. Join us in raising the bar, keeping it local, and being the change. It’s our time to grow up and out, create together and love the process of building something that lasts. Sounds like a good plan for any bold, new city.
